Courtyard Again
Stage Fright. Stay tuned. At the
Courtyard again, my speech coach Brandon asked for a storyline. Here is my vacation
story. The day after school closed Nanay and Tatay and myself drove Tatay’s
stored furniture in a U-haul all the way across country. A slow car on the interstate
loomed ahead in the night before El Paso.
Tatay said God sat on the brakes and saved us. We stopped in Texas to buy a CD player that would plug into the funny dashboard in that truck
and saw a box turtle with orange stripes on its neck. We had to unhook the Focus
station wagon from the tow in Mississippi
because the wind had blown in Texas and Louisiana and Tatay got tired. We saw great-grandmother
in Alabama. She waved as we left the motel
in Birmingham. She gets around quite well
to be 90 years old. When we got to Georgia the trees were green, the grass was green, everything was green. Georgia was a nice place. Nanay bought me a Razor scooter in Chattanooga and
I raced up and down the road while she took an evening walk. Some fun. Maybe
I will go back next year.
